Lemon essential oil – benefits and ways to use

The current times we live in can easily be labeled as the busiest and complicated age of all. Even with all of us seated at home currently due to the global pandemic, the world is running as always, with industries spurring, windmills rushing, and even taking with the wind the pace of our relationship. Therefore, newer techniques of finding momentary peace in this continuously evolving world emerge every day, among which aromatherapy has proved to be highly effective. Aromatherapy is a treatment based on the proposition of scents impacting our nervous system positively. In other words, the fragrance of different natural medicinal herbs, plants, citrus fruits, seeds, etcetera can calm our nerves by traveling through our olfactory system into the limbic system of our brains, thus curing all unnecessary anxieties and stress, depression, or mental trauma.

Essential oils serve this purpose of aromatherapy perfectly. These oils are aromatic compounds extracted from different plants. They are highly concentrated yet volatile, thus leaving the chosen fragrance behind necessary to bring our mental chaos to a pause. They need to be mixed with other carrier oils like olive oil, almond oil, grape seed oil for dilution. Else their direct application can be toxic to the body.

Lemon essential oil and black cumin seed oil are two of the best examples of aromatic carriers, which can be incorporated into our daily lives for many of their benefits. Lemon essential oil is made from lemon peels. After harvesting, the lemons are cold-pressed, and then the oil is separated from it to give us the fresh, citrusy lemon smell. It has anti-bacterial and hence can be used as a most effective cleanser. It can be diluted with other carrier oils by mixing twelve drops of it in 30 ml of the carrier oil and then used for different purposes, like in a diffuser or massage oils.

Black cumin seed oil is made the same way as cumin seeds and is highly functional when mixed with daily skincare products or homemade shampoos. It has anti-inflammatory properties and hence is great for calming down your skin. It can also be a suitable carrier for lemon essential oil.

These oils can be extremely beneficial for the betterment of your body and mind and boost your mental energy throughout the day.
